A huge thank you to Alan Mulrooney, Kieran and all at Strandhill People’s Market who hosted the latest Strandhill Community Park 50 / 50 draw for October and November earlier today. The market is a wonderful mix of artists, food producers and crafters who combine to create an unparalleled community atmosphere that is all the more special in the run up to Christmas. With only a couple of weekends left until the big day, it’s a must visit for all the family.

We also had a special guest as Santa’s polar bear dropped in on the way to help Santa in the airport.

Alan and the polar bear are pictured with draw coordinator Paraic Casey at the Strandhill Calendar stand and we’d like to thank them and all those who supported the market today and wish a hearty congratulations to the following lucky winners:

October winners

€300 Sarah Whelan, Seafield

€200 Paul Hamilton, Strandhill

€100 Darren Finan, Strandhill

€100 Sarah Clarke, Sligo

November winners

€300 Susan Leonard, Strandhill

€200 Mark Muldoon, Sligo

€100 Emma Gray, Sligo

€100 John O'Boyle, Strandhill

A big thank you and welcome to new members who have joined in November. We are aiming to get to 200 members so that we can continue to make improvements to the park, which has most recently seen the addition of a new roundabout, outdoor gym equipment as well as repairs and upgrading of the children’s play area thanks to grants from Sligo Leader and the National Lottery.

We are edging closer to 150 draw members which will push the monthly prize fund up to €750 with €350 for the first out of the hat and €200 for second, so please continue to like, share and comment on the draw on your social media accounts and help get all the community behind the park development.

The draw only costs €10 each month - the equivalent cost of a cup of coffee each week !

Our target is to get 200 people so that we can service the debt on the park development and continue to improve the facilities.

When you have signed up we are encouraging everyone to use the hashtag #StrandhillIveSignedUp to use on their social media and to promote the draw

The draw takes place each month and winners will be contacted by phone with results published across the club’s social media channels.

The park development draw supports the bank loans which the club have taken on to develop and maintain the community park in Strandhill. The club has invested €1.3m in the park since its inception and has recently completed a €250,000 project which includes a floodlit community walkway, spectator facilities and convert the park into an environmentally friendly park - called ECO Park.

The 50/50 draw is very simple. 50% of the income is paid out in prize money each month ! This is unusual as it is a high percentage but the club wants to ensure good prize money for those joining the draw.

We now have almost 150 people signed up so please pass on the message on your social media and help get all the community behind the park development.
