Gers Dads & Lads Blitz a Great Success

The Geraldines GFC hosted a hugely successful Dads & Lads Blitz on Saturday in McGeough Park. Eight clubs from Louth, Down, Dublin, and Monaghan took part, with over 100 players involved. Ten teams competed across more than 25 games in near-perfect conditions on what proved to be an unusually sunny autumn afternoon.

The day ran smoothly and to schedule, with plenty of competitive and entertaining football on show. Each team played at least five games, before the action concluded with three finals. The two Geraldines teams could not be separated in their final, sharing the honours after a hard-fought draw. Clann na Banna and Skerries Harps claimed victory in the other two finals.

After the football, players and supporters made their way to the clubhouse for well-earned food and refreshments. A special word of thanks goes to senior players David, Beanón, Jamie, James, and Thomas who took on the roles of pitch coordinators, referees, and bar staff throughout the day.

Thanks also to Maura for her excellent work organising the fixtures and updating scores and standings live on the app, and to Irene for providing the coffee machine and keeping everyone supplied with teas and coffees. We were also delighted to welcome our Club Secretary who came along to support and take in the games.

We extend our sincere thanks to everyone who contributed to the success of the event, to the participating clubs and players for travelling, and to all who joined us in support on the day. The evening continued in our club sponsors, The Bayview Tavern, and we are very grateful for their ongoing support.

Funds raised from the Blitz will be donated to LauraLynn Children’s Hospice and the Men’s Sheds charity.
