Our U12 hurling team represented Limerick in the Munster U12 Hurling activity Day in Croke Park on Tuesday April 2nd last. We had an early start leaving by bus from Croagh village at 8am, with 22 players and a large number of parents.
We played 3 games on the hallowed turf of Croke Park and our boys did us very proud and performed very well and were competitive in all the games. We played Whitegate from Clare, Dr. Crokes from Killarney and Ahan Gaels from Enniskeane in West Cork. While the boys were concentrating on their hurling, their names were displayed on both big screens which was brilliant to see and hopefully one day their names will appear on the screen when they are wearing the green and while of Limerick.
Following our 3 games we had tour of the stadium, into the dressing rooms, warm up area, players lounge and climbed the steps of the Hogan Stand. We had a great tour guide who explained lots of the stadium history and inside information in relation to rituals on match day. It was great to see our county jersey hanging in the dressing rooms above the all the other county jerseys as All Ireland Hurling Champions along with the Dublin Mens and Ladies football jerseys & Cork camogie jersey.
Following the stadium tour we headed back to the bus for our trip home and a stop along the way to get some much needed refreshments for the boys.
