On Monday evening, in O’Garney Park, Sixmilebridge took on Broadford/Bodyke in a thrilling and exciting encounter in round three of the U13 Championship,
From the first whistle, both sides showed outstanding skill, well above that which is normally seen at under 13 level. Lucy Conroy opened the scoring for Sixmilebridge with two points from play in the first four minutes. Broadford/Bodyke answered this with goals in the 11th and 16th minute. Lucy Conroy finished the scoring for Sixmilebridge with a goal shortly afterwards, leaving a two point gap in favour of Sixmilebridge at half time.
The second half began with a goal from midfielder, Anna Gilligan and a ‘45 from Rachel Chaplin. Broadford/Bodyke scored two points from frees and a point from play before Aklice Lyons broke through the Broadford Bodyke to rattle the net for Sixmilebridge again. With both defences under pressure for the last seven minutes, Sixmilebridge conceded a number of frees with Broadford/ Bodyke scoring 2-1 from frees and a point from play, resulting in a two point win for the visiting team.
