Our U13 Development Footballers travelled to Timahoe on Saturday evening for a Development League game against Stradbally.
Port started well and were quick off the mark to open the scoreboard, Port dominated play in the first half, but Stradbally put up a good effort to take control of the game. Ports dominance was rewarded with three goals by Sam Lyons and Luca Hynes. Five points from open play and two from frees, left a healthy lead going in for the break. The half ended with a scoreline of Port 3.07(16), Stradbally 0.01 (1).
Stradbally came out fighting in the second half and put the pressure on Port with a new fire in their bellies, they quickly closed the gap in the lead Port had gained in the first half. This renewed team started to dominate play in the Port half and were on target scoring a quick two goals and six points within 15 minutes. Port advanced with all their might and Alex Kelly scored a lovely goal at a critical time to re-light Ports drive in the game. A further two points sealed the deal for Port. The full-time score was Portarlington 4.09 (21), Stradbally 2.07(13).
