Liam Hennessy was unanimously selected as our club President in succession to John O Grady (Cúlbáire) RIP at the January 2025 club meeting. Liam and John O lined out together for the Moycarkey Borris team in the 1962 Tipperary County Senior Hurling Final and on many other occasions. Like John O, Liam continued to serve the club diligently after his playing days had elapsed.

Liam served as Club Chairman during a golden era for Moycarkey Borris GAA in the 1980’s culminating in County and Munster Senior Hurling titles. The players and mentors of these teams always credit the leadership and unifying spirit of Liam and his Secretary Conor Kennedy with their team’s successes.

Liam served as a County Senior Hurling Selector in 1983 and the Centenary Munster Hurling Final of 1984 when the teams improved performance bolstered the hopes of a Tipperary resurgence. Liam also served as a very successful Chairman of the Mid Tipperary GAA board and now serves as President of the board.

Whatever his County or Mid duties Liam’s service in Moycarkey Borris GAA remained steadfast. Whether encouraging new people into the club, negotiating a land purchase or calling house to house fundraising, Liam has done it all. He epitomises the highest standards of respect, decency, community and generously helping in every way possible.
