Astro and Ball Wall Official Opening
Thanks to everyone who attended last Saturday evening's opening of the Astro and Ball Wall. It was great to have our 2005 All Ireland winning panel in attendance to officially open the facility as a piper led the panel and management through the club grounds. Eamonn Kelly (manager) and Gerry Slattery (captain) cut the red ribbon to the facility. Club chairperson Paul Fogarty welcomed everyone in attendance and thanked all those that worked hard to get the project completed as well to those that provided financial support. Father Willie McCormack blessed the facility before Eamonn Kelly, Gerry Slattery and Liam Kelly (club chairperson in 2005) spoke to the crowd about the All Ireland winning campaign and what it meant to the club and community. A song from Enda Nolan was played to the crowd whilst our figure dancers and music Scór na bPáistí groups also performed. The 2005 panel came out victorious against our current panel in a penalty shoot out on the astro turf. Eoin Meagher and Dermie Hogan lined out in goals whilst Brian McLoughlin and Paddy Lynch were in contention for best penalty with Eddie Fogarty providing Mícheál Ó'Muircheartaigh like commentary on the shoot out. Rodgie Gleeson wrapped up proceedings with a rendition of Sliabh na mban before the crowd had refreshments in the hall.
Check out the club's Facebook page where you will see plenty of photos of the event taken by Siobhan Ryan whilst Eoin Kelly produced a drone footage video of the opening also.
