FT Áth Troim 1-23 Navan O’Mahonys 2-11
From the throw in it was Navan that attempted to set the pace of the game but it was Trim that opened up the scoring with a brilliant long range shot from Adam Donoghue. Navan were quick to equalise keeping the pressure with both teams going score for score in the opening minutes setting the tone for a fiercely competitive first half. Solid work from the Trim defence kept the teams evenly matched on the score board. Brilliant anticipation and strength from Trim in mid field on the breaking ball from Navan puc outs with a great pass into Cormac Slattery for a brilliant team score. Trim continued pressing the Navan puc out creating good turnover to keep themselves ahead of Navan. Persistent pressure from the Trim forwards not letting the Navan defence out, easily winning the ball creating their own scoring opportunities, Trim just keeping the scoreboard moving and not letting Navan close the gap. With some frustration setting into Navan Trim were unfortunate not to punish the Navan mistakes but going into half time with a six point lead

The second half saw Trim continuing their pressure play with George Douglas adding to his tally for the day with a quick tap over the bar. Navan fighting hard to make a comeback but Trims defence worked harder, stopping any attack from the Navan forwards. With Trims mid field constantly active for the out ball creating many opportunities for the Trim Forwards to keep the score board in their favour. A soft free given away by the Trim defence led to a goal from the penalty spot for Navan closing the gap. Navan keep pushing with a quick move upfield raising another green flag. But Trim held steady and with a brilliant puc out from Andy in the goals to mid field running straight at the Navan goals, a quick pass to Daniel Fox, who was only minutes on the pitch, firing home for Trim to the back of NOMs net raising the green flag in a brilliant response.
Trim's persistent pressure allowing the lads to maintain control and secure the victory.
The match was a testament to Trim's determination and teamwork, ensuring Navan never gained the upper hand and a great win for our young second team against a stronger more experienced Navan first team.
