ACFL  Division 10:   Longwood 2-15  Skryne 1-8

After a couple of false starts, Longwood's reserve team got their league campaign off to a successful start with an impressive 2-15 to 1-8 victory over Skryne on Tuesday evening.

While there was a sprinkling of experience, the home team had a noticeably youthful look and this gave them an edge for much of the contest.

Josh Meagher and Dominic Finnegan shared two cracking goals and there was a good spread of scorers throughout the hour.  Bob Maguire displayed his scoring prowess with an excellent point off both left and right foot.

When it looked like Skryne might claw their way back into the game, ace shot-stopper Sandijs Buls came to the rescue with an impressive penalty save midway through the second half. This enabled Jim Mahon's charges to regroup and see the game out.

So a deserved two points for the boys, who host Dunsany on Friday evening @ 8:00 in a rearranged fixture from Round 2.

Longwood: Sandijs Buls, Jason Kerrigan, Sean Carpenter, Cian O'Sullivan.
