Senior Women remain top of Division 1
Our senior women completed their first round of seven league games with consecutive wins. They followed up a convincing win at home against St. Fechins with a two point win against St. Mary's in Ardee last Friday evening. On a warm evening in Ardee they were totally dominant in the opening 10 minutes playing some scintillating football and should have built up a good lead but poor finishing meant they only led by 2 points when Ardee broke up the field to score a goal. Boosted by the goal, St Mary's tagged on a few points and at one stage led by four.
At half time they led the Geraldines by 1-4 to 0-4.
The Geraldines fought back well in the 2nd half, dominating posession and finished up winners by 0-11 to 1-6 in a hard-fought game against a determined St Mary's outfit.
The win see's Tom Rodgers' side finish the first round of seven games in 1st place with 5 wins, a draw and one defeat. They now enter the Division Top 4 competition commencing on 20th June under the new league format introduced this year.
The squad have shown great commitment and effort from the start of of the year and with a great blend of youth and experience will be looking forward to the challenges ahead in the top 4 competition and the senior championship.
Tiernans Supervalu is proud to support our senior ladies, and we appreciate their support for this season.
