Sad news reaching us today, with the passing of John "Moss".
MORRISSY (Crosshaven): On June 2nd, 2025, peacefully, at home, JOHN (late of Crosshaven R.F.C.). Predeceased by his beloved son Peter. Sadly missed by his loving wife Tricia, daughter Kate and her mother Angela, sisters Kay and Ursula, brothers-in-law Jim, Ray and Darren, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
May he rest in peace.
Reposing at Fordes Funeral Home, Old Waterpark, Carrigaline on Thursday (June 5th) from 5pm until 6pm.
Requiem Mass on Friday (June 6th) at 11am in St Brigid’s Church, Crosshaven.
Funeral details will be updated Wednesday afternoon.

John and I worked for ten years together in Ranks Mills, starting on the same day. It was Moss who introduced me to rugby and to Old Christians, where we played together for a number of years.
Moss was an ex Christian's school player, a rampaging number 7.
The picture below, (Moss is third from the right back row), was taken after us winning the Dennehy Cup in 72/73. Pascal Hedderman, who was buried on the 30th of May, was also on that team.
Moss had broken his jaw some months previously and had not resumed shaving at that stage.

Moss then moved to Crosshaven and threw in his lot with the local team and we crossed swords on a few occasions.
He was a member of the Carrigmore crew and at after match sing songs, when the Club Guitar was brought out, John's party piece was "Dicey Riley".
I don't ever remember him having a second song.
The Club would like to extend it's sympathies to John's friends and family.
