FT Trim 2-21 Kiltale 3-10
Trim opened their Division 1 Minor Hurling League campaign away against Kiltale last Friday evening.
Trim got off to a perfect start with Ruairi McCaffery winning possession from the throw in before firing over for the opening point of the game. Trim built on this with a point from play from Emil Maher and two 65’s from Alex Cole giving the visitors a four point lead after just 7 minutes. Kiltale opened their account with a fine point from play after 8 minutes. Kiltale responded to points from Cormac Walsh and Alex Cole with two points of their own before drawing level with a 13th minute goal. The Trim men took control for the remainder of the half with 4 points from Alex Cole (3 frees), 2 points from Cormac Walsh and another from Ruairi McCaffery with the home sides only response being a point from a free late in the half giving the Trim a 6 point half time lead
HT Trim 0-13 Kiltale 1-04.
Kiltale opened the second half scoring with a point from play which was cancelled out by a point from Cormac Walsh before a frantic 6 minute spell saw the sides share 4 goals between them. Trim looked to have taken firm control of the match when on two occasions they managed to dispossess Kiltale players in their own half before finding the net through Alex Cole and Cormac Walsh in the 33rd and 36th minutes. However two Kiltale goals in the 37th and 39th minutes were followed by another Kiltale point leaving just 5 points between the sides. Points from Oisin Hughes and Cormac Walsh helped to steady Trim nerves. At this stage Kiltale sensed that goals were going to be required to take anything from the game but a couple of fine saves from Trim goalkeeper John McMoreland and some resolute Trim defending kept the home side at bay. Both Walsh and Cole scored two further points before a late score from Ruairi McCaffery left the final score Trim 2-21 Kiltale 3-10.
