The girls had a exciting win on Saturday evening when they held out for a one point win against Tooreen in the U16 C Sheild Final. The girls qualified from their group with 3 tough group matches and while losing to eventual Cup Winners Eyrecourt in the Cup semi final they managed to hold on for a one point win to win the Shield Final.
Extremely windy conditions made camogie tough on the day and with the girls against the wind in the second half they needed a cracking goal from Kara Flaherty and well taken point from Aoibhinn Hanniffy to keep Tooreen at bay. The girls bravely fought to hang on with the game in the balance right into injury time. A goal line save from Grace Healy and brave blocks by both Clodagh Grealy and Roisin Mattieu saved the day and ensured the team got over the line so that captain Aideen Lambe received the trophy.
