Yesterday evening Kinvara GAA made a medal presentation to John Conneely for a county title he won almost 60 years ago.

In 1966 John was part of our Intermediate team that won the county title. When the medals were being presented, in a function in the Sacre Coeur Hotel in Salthill, John had moved abroad and therefore he never got his.

Our club were delighted to have found one of the original medals and we had great pleasure in making the presentation in front of his family and friends. Also there were some teammates on that 1966 side – John Connolly, Joe Connors and Jimmy Connors.

Thanks to Mike in the Pier Head for hosting the event, to Derek Smith as MC, and to Barry from Kinvara FM who recorded the proceedings.
