Happy Summer Solstice, the longest day and shortest night of the year ☀️ (and a 14 man Dublin team has just beated Limerick in the Hurling !)
Did you know that the club is being powered with Solar Panels? Last year St Finians partnered with River Valley Community Center, Swords Tidy Towns, Swords Woodlands Association and Broadmeadow Community Garden to apply for The Community Climate Action Fund from the Department of Environment through Fingal County Council. We were successful in receiving €55,000 for our ideas including solar panels on the clubhouse and community centre roofs, clothes swap equipment, bike lockers and repair station native planting outside the community center and other initiatives that are still being implemented.
Our PhotoVoltaic (PV) solar system was installed by A1 Energy. Conor (originally from Swords) and his team at A1 were great to deal with and feel free to call them for a free quote 086 2935333 📞 Grants are available from SEAIand depending on your house and roof orientaion, your investment could be paid off in less than 5 years giving you free clean energy for many years to come. Our system has 24 panels on the East facing roof and 8 on the West facing roof generating enough electricity to power the clubhouse, Fhionns afterschool and on a good day even sending extra energy back to the grid (which you get paid for !) Solar powered electricity reduces the amount of fossil fuels burnt to generate energy, reduces carbon emissions and saves the club money through lower energy bills 💶💶💶
