U20 Championship

U8 and U10 Blitz

Our U8 and U10 footballers were in action on Saturday morning last in Breedon Cement Molloy Park in very windy conditions. The boys were in fine footballing form fresh from their Cúl Camp week showcasing their skills. Opposition was provided by Mullingar Shamrocks, CFCW and Tyrellspass. A great exhibition of football by all the young stars especially against the wind. Well done to all involved.

U12 Finals in Cusack

Our U12 boys were delighted to get the opportunity to play in TEG Cusack Park for the u12 Finals this weekend. Match 1 on Friday saw the lads face a strong Garrycastle side. There was a great battle between the sides in windy conditions.
Match 2, the last of the competition, saw a great contest between Inny Shamrocks and Na Dúnta with our lads putting on a fine display. Well done to all. Huge thanks to Minor County Board. Paddy Wallace, Barry Kelly, Shane Briody, Declan Leonard, Ronan Farrell, Paul Doolin for this great initiative and to the Senior County Board for making Cusack Park available. Between both codes, 46 clubs (50 teams) and ~1100 players participated over the 2 weekends, a fantastic experience for these young players.

U14

Both U14 squads opened their championship campaigns this week. The Division 1 team were away to St. Lomans in Lakepoint Park. The boys put in an industrious display coming away with the win on a scoreline of 1-19 to 2-05. The Division 4 team also dug deep to come away with a hard earned victory against a physically strong Multy side. Final score The Downs 6-06 Multy 4-12. A super effort from all involved. Next round will be in two weeks time.

Minor Championship

The minor boys had a good win in the first round of the Division 1 championship at home to Shandonagh last Thursday. The lads battled hard to come away with a 2 point win. Final score: The Downs 2-13 Shandonagh 2-11
