Trim began their 2025 Championship campaign with a hard-earned victory over a dogged Dunderry outfit on a balmy evening at Dunganny. This was as tough a clash as you would expect at this time of the season with a smattering of players unavailable either due to niggling injuries or otherwise.

Dunderry’s Evan Nolan registered the first score in the second minute with Trim’s equalizer coming from the trusty stick of David Murtagh in the eight minute. This trend continued throughout the half and, by the time referee Kevin Brady sounded the half-time whistle, there was only the bare minimum between the sides. Trim’s scores coming from a further brace by David Murtagh, Kyle Ennis (2), Ian Bermingham, and Conor Quigley.   For Dunderry, Evan Nolan added a further three points (2f), and Adam Kelly also added his name to the scoresheet.

Half Time: Trim 0-7; Dunderry 0-6

The second half began in similar style to the first with Dunderry’s Mark Leavy registering the opening score. A David Murtagh equalizer was followed by a mammoth placed effort from Joey Cole and it soon became clear that Trim were beginning to assert themselves in a manner as would be expected. Kyle Ennis made a lovely conversion on the blind and another placed effort by David Murtagh sailed between the Dunderry uprights with Dunderry’s Mark Leavy keeping his side within touching distance with a further brace of points.

Three unanswered Trim points from Conor Quigley (2) and Kyle Ennis, the second Quigley score from over eighty metres, put significant daylight between the sides for the first time and, although Mark Leavy kept plugging away for Dunderry, the tie was ebbing away to an inevitable conclusion.

Further Trim scores from Daniel Murray, Cormac Slattery, and David Murtagh maintained their five point advantage as the clock moved over the sixtieth minute.

The result was finally put to bed when George Douglas beautifully judged the flight of the ball and found the back of the Dunderry net, in the first minute of added time, past a helpless Jack Fagan. Mark Leavy did pull two points back deep into injury time but Kevin Brady blew for fulltime much to the relief of the Trim supporters.

Trim:  Eoin O’Reilly, Danny Coleman, Ben Holden, Pauric Walsh, Cormac Slattery (0-1), Gary Fleming, Luca Taheny, Conor Quigley (0-3), Joey Cole (0-1, 1f), Darragh Heffernan, James Andrews, David Murtagh (0-6, 4f), George Douglas (1-0), Ian Birmingham (0-1), Kyle Ennis (0-4).
