LGF Minor Football Championship: Athlone 7-12 Mullingar Shamrocks 3-12

It didn’t look great early on as Athlone waltzed through the Mullingar Shamrocks defence to score 3 goals but our Minor girls did not surrender without a fight and for the rest of the game matched the best that Athlone had to offer. By half-time they had reduced the gap as the score read 6-3 to 3-7. Linda Raeside with 2 and Caoimhe Farrell were the Shamrocks goalscorers and Grace Daly converted several frees as she gave a top class display of free taking. Emily Ford made some good saves, Alex Gavigan was superb at midfield and centre forward Zara Corroon played more of the ball than any other player on the field.

Mullingar Shamrocks: Emily Ford, Rosie O’ Grady, Ella Briody, Rachel Cassidy, Saoirse Clinton, Zara Corroon, Grace Daly, Caoimhe Farrell, Sarah Forde, Alexa Gavigan, Sara Hannify, Aideen Langtry, Mollie Maguire, Katie Matthews, Aoibh McCann, Kara McKeown, Roisin Nohilly, Ece Ozdemir, Ellie O’Donnell, Linda Raeside, Seoidin Thornton.
