Senior Ladies reach Championship Semi- Final

Dromintee 3:3 Carrickcruppen 0:11

Dromintee Senior ladies beat Carrickcruppen senior ladies this evening in a titantic battle that went down to the wire. The league match saw Dromintee beat the same opposition by two points back at the end of June minus the county players. Carrickcruppen with Caroline O’Hanlon & Anna Carr back on board looked to be in control at halftime when they went in at the short whistle level and had the backing of a strong wind for the second half. Dromintee on the other hand had looked jittery and indecisive first half and it took an expertly taken Megan Sheridan goal to keep the home side in touch.

The second half saw Dromintee take the game to Carrickcruppen and had a lot more of the forward play with Aoife Mc Coy excelling with her explosive runs linking up with the youthful Lilly Mc Bennett and Megan Sheridan. The latter two girls slotted home vital goals in the second half to take Dromintee further ahead and following good defensive rearguard play the Dromintee girls held out for a deserved victory and reach the Senior Championship semi final. The side look forward to a semi final clash with Crossmaglen in two weeks time and have a chance to create their own bit of history by reaching a championship final at the end of the month.
