September 4th 1939 Larry Slattery’s life took a dramatic turn when he was shot down in German waters and became the first and longest serving prisoner of World War II

MBL Men’s Shed & Community History Group have launched a booklet,
The Oldest of Old Kreigies.
The true story of Larry Slattery a man from Littleton who showed great bravery and resilience through out his six years in prison.
Remarkably his memory is being kept alive in the UK to this day by The Larry Slattery Memorial Fund.
