The final round of the Junior Championship saw our lads face off in what turned out to be an absolute cracker of a match — a game filled with drama, determination, and a flurry of second-half goals that kept supporters on the edge of their seats.
It all began with Doyler getting the scoreboard moving with a superb 2-pointer, showing his sharpness early and setting the tone for what would become a high-octane affair. Boardsmill were quick to respond with a point of their own, and the first half unfolded as a tight, physical battle with both sides trading scores.
And what a second half it turned out to be — a goal saga in every sense of the word.
Trim came out fighting, hungry for a comeback, and they found their rhythm quickly. It started with a pinpoint ball in from Foxy, which was expertly finished by Nigel to rattle the net and lift the crowd. Not long after, Robbie Kenny found himself in the right place at the right time, pouncing on a loose ball to bury another goal and ignite Trim's momentum.
The scoring spree didn’t stop there — Foxy, already instrumental in the build-up, got himself on the scoresheet with a well-taken goal that showcased his composure under pressure.
As Trim pushed on, they were awarded a penalty, and up stepped Doyler once again. With ice in his veins, he slotted it home, capping off a fantastic performance with his second goal of the day to large cheers from the big home support.
It was a spirited second-half comeback, full of grit, teamwork, and some serious finishing. While the final result might not have landed in our favour, the fight, heart, and never-say-die attitude shown by the lads was second to none.
From start to finish, it was a battle. Unfortunate to come up short at the final whistle the Trim lads finish out their season with a spirited game that they hope to build on next year.
