Following the defeat in 1999 the experience of a County final build up meant the Bridge boys took 2000 in their stride. Eire Og had the caused a major upset and dethroned the County, Munster and All Ireland Champions St. Josephs Doora Barefied in the semi final. Thile the Eire Og footballers had the week before been crowned county champions so all the talk in the county was of a Townie Double.

The 'Bridge had different ideas and with Gilly on fire at 1 end scoring 1-07 and Fitzy on fire at the other end with his now customary penalty goal the 'Bridge ran out winners by 10 points.
The day was special for the club as it saw us win title number 9 and also because 16 hurlers (Wayne Kennedy, Declan Murphy, John Reddan, Robert Conlon, Brian Kennedy, Brian Culbert, Rory Liddane, Adrian Chaplin, John O'Meara, Stiofan Fitzpatrick, Noel Flannery, Paul Fitzpatrick, Gerard O'Halloran, Cathal Walsh, Tadhg Keogh and Darragh O'Loughlin) won their first County Senior Hurling title. Word in the County was the Bridge were finished after the All Ireland winning team of 1996 started to retire but Paddy Meehan and his management team managed to rebuild a new team in 4 years that would go on to conquer, Clare, Munster, London and go agonisingly close to reaching the hold grail for clubs of Croke Park on St. Patricks day.
