With wind and rain driving straight across the pitch, most teams would have taken a cautious approach. Not Trim.

From the throw-in, they played with energy, pace, and unbelievable work rate — hunting in packs, turning over ball after ball, and picking off scores with clinical precision. They registered ten points before the break, with Alan Costello and Cathal o Reilly splitting the posts with confidence from distance, and the half-forward line buzzing with intensity.

Trim’s midfield dominated the opening thirty minutes, winning breaks and surging forward, while their backs shut down any early threats from St Pat’s. Despite the conditions, they moved the ball quickly and kept the scoreboard ticking, showing real cohesion as a unit.

By half-time, with the score at 0-10 to 0-1, it looked like Trim might run away with it. But they’d have a strong wind against them in the second half

🌪️ Second Half – St Pat’s Turn the Tide

But the second half was a different story. With the wind now at their backs and their pride stung, St Pat’s came out with fire in their bellies. They tightened up at the back, slowed Trim’s rhythm, and gradually took control of possession.

As they raised the green flag, St Pat’s chipped away point by point, leading the charge from midfield and converting some tough efforts. Their patience and persistence were admirable — and the atmosphere began to shift.

Trim, now facing the elements and a resurgent opponent, were forced to dig in. Their defence stood tall under pressure, with their defence making key interceptions and Paddy in goals dealing confidently with high balls and frees into the square.

As the clock ticked down and the scores drew level, both teams pushed for a winner — but the conditions and pure physical toll took their effect. The final whistle brought relief and respect in equal measure.   As we await a re-fixture both teams have time to get back training and push ahead to keep their intermediate status
