JOHN 'MACKEY' McKENNA RIP
Tipperary GAA received sad news for the second week in a row on learning that the great John 'Mackey' McKenna had left us. A key figure on the great team of the early 1960s, Mackey made up for any lack of physique with determination, workrate, teamwork and a touch which yielded many scores for that team. As Aesop remarked, 'A man is known by the company he keeps' and Mackey's status can be judged by his holding his own among the greatest forwards of all time: Jimmy Doyle, Larry Kiely, Liam Devaney, Donie Nealon, Sean McLoughlin, 'Babs' Keating, Tom Moloughney etc....Tipperary Supporters Club offers its condolences to his family and friends and, indeed, the wider community on the loss of one of Borrisokane's most famous sons.Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam dílis.Tipperary GAA's tribute to Mackey can be seen here:Link
