We were delighted this year to launch the Dermot Earley Youth Leadership Initiative with 19 amazing TY / 5th year students and there’s already strong interest for next year (Sep 2026).
The Dermot Earley Youth Leadership Initiative is a partnership between the GAA, Foróige, NUI Galway and the Dermot Earley family which aims to enable young people to enhance their leadership skills and qualities and challenges them to use these skills both on and off the pitch for the betterment of society.

The programme aims to empower young people to make a positive difference to their society through the practice of effective leadership.
We have fantastic facilitators who work on a rota each week. To make the programme sustainable into the future, we’re looking for parent volunteers to help facilitate the initiative for the 2026 group with our existing facilitators - starting September 2026 .
Sessions take place weekly in the club house from approx. Sep - Oct and Jan-Feb . Full training is provided online by Foroige, and the next available facilitator training sessions take place in February.
If you have an interest in youth development, leadership, or simply want to support the club in a meaningful way, please consider getting involved. Your contribution would make a huge difference in the lives of our young club members.
