The first Executive meeting was held recently (06 January) where a number of matters were discussed and decided.  Following the Christmas break, the club is now starting to prepare in earnest for the year ahead, particularly football wise, which of course is the priority.  This is a time where it would be fantastic for anyone who wants to help out in the club to step forward in any capacity, volunteer, committee member, fundraise, sponsor, casual helper or coach.  Get in touch and volunteer.

As regards Football, Seamus Kenny, as Football Chairman with his committee, is putting recommendations to the Executive (as per the Club Constitution) on all GAA team managers, coaches etc.  A lot of work has already been done in this regard, and it is very important to have the right people in the right jobs. Our Senior Team Management are in place and have started training with all adult players and we wish them and all teams well this year.

A lot of volunteer work was put into our recent gym and dressing room upgrade and I am thankful to everyone who contributed to that, particularly to Paul Meade who led the work efforts.

In a few weeks we will let all members know of our fundraising plan for the year, which will be similar to last year.  In the meantime, as stated before, paying your membership and encouraging others to do so is the significant financial injection that the club needs at this time of the year.  You can pay via Clubzap or in the office with instalment payments still an option.

Congratulations to our recent Lotto winner Moyra Reilly on her success and also to Gary Lyons, the first 200 Club Draw winner.  This is a good opportunity to encourage all to do the weekly Lotto and purchase a 200 Club ticket individually or as part of a syndicate. Our weekly Lotto draws are on Fridays and our next 'thousandaire' will be drawn Saturday 17th January in the bar.  Both are available on Clubzap and these fundraisers are critical to our 2026 development.

The Club are planning, similar to last year, a Members Night on February (20th) with a special guest appearance.  Whilst there are no Presidential elections planned this year, who knows, our club might be the platform to again launch a career change for our special guest from Kerry.  Keep the date in mind, Friday 20th February.

The New Year also sees the return of the Steps Challenge and I encourage all to get out walking and logging those steps.  Weekly group walks are Wednesdays at 7pm in Blackwater Park.  Click here to get more details https://dashboard.clubzap.com/articles/173156
