Anna Jones Hits the Target ...
It's not every day we have a member going on a scoring rampage in a National Football League game. Anna Jones cut loose last Sunday in the Lidl Ireland National Football League game last Sunday and scored 4-0 against Tyrone (a punched effort, a penalty and two right-footed shots) and turned creator for a fifth Westmeath goal.
In the words of Paul Hughes in the Westmeath Examiner "Anna Jones was everywhere, firing four goals, setting up another and generally functioning as Westmeath's chief creative force".
Unfortunately, Anna's efforts were in vain as far as collecting league points were concerned as for the second time in the past twelve months WestmeathLadies Gaa lost narrowly to Tyrone Ladies GFA, the current All-Ireland Intermediate Champions.
Nevertheless Anna's achievement is worthy of recognition and might well be a record by a Mullingar Shamrocks player in a competitive inter-county football match (Let us know if you scored more or know of a higher scorer).
