The club are extremely saddened to learn of the passing of our former chairperson Jimmy Keating this weekend. Jimmy proved an able and capable chairman of the club from 1991 to 1993 but also worked in a variety of other voluntary,  officer and committee positions of the club over the years and was one of the key people in running the club from the 1980s into the 2000s.

Jimmy's family have a strong ongoing connection with the club with his son James lining out at senior level for many years and also several grandchildren representing the club at underage level.

As well as his service to St Mary's Jimmy also had the distinction of serving as South Board Chairperson from 1997 to 1999. As one of his first acts, Jimmy was particularly proud to attend the opening of the new Ballybacon/Grange Hurling field in Goatenbridge officially opened by his brother and local hero Michael Babs Keating.

The club extends it's deepest sympathies to Jimmy's daughter Carmel, son James, partner Rita as well as his wide circle of friends at this difficult time.
