A strong second-half performance saw the team overturn a four-point half-time deficit to secure an impressive win against a strong Eastern Gaels side.
Eastern Gaels made a fast start, controlling midfield by pushing their full forward out as a floating midfielder. This tactical switch allowed them to control possession and build scores early on. Despite this, three crucial goals kept the Curraha/Vincents side in touch. However, handling errors and turnovers made it difficult to establish any sustained rhythm, and Eastern Gaels capitalised on this throughout the half.
At the break, the scoreboard read 3-02 to 2-09, leaving us four points behind.
We started the second half brightly and began to dominate possession, though this control did not immediately translate to scores, with five consecutive wides and a missed free highlighting some rushed decision-making.
Imogen Horgan led the charge with an outstanding 2-01, while Katie Tuite contributed heavily with 0-04 (including a free). A pivotal moment came from Phoebe Horgan, whose long-range effort found the net and swung momentum firmly in our favour. Katie Tuite added two more points late on to seal the result, while the opposition were restricted to just a single point in the 31st minute of the second half.
There were strong performances across the pitch. Phoebe Horgan and Shauna White controlled midfield well, while Hannah Keogh and Jessica Brennan were solid in defence. Up front, Katie Tuite’s intelligent movement and quick link-up play created multiple scoring opportunities. Kaitlyn McMahon was key in delivering quality ball into the full-forward line.
Mollie White made a major impact from half forward, consistently winning possession, forcing turnovers, and drawing frees through pressure. The direct approach into the full-forward line proved highly effective as the game progressed.
A special mention goes to Ava Cleary, who was making her debut in goal and produced several outstanding saves alongside confident distribution. Hannah Keogh also deserves credit at full back, where she handled a difficult assignment against a talented floating forward and helped anchor a defence that conceded just 0-01 in the second half.
