Following chats with players and coaches, we’ve put together a plan to support those of you who are in the final stages of preparing for your Leaving Cert.

We understand that some of you haven’t been involved with teams this year due to study commitments, while others have stepped back from training and games. That’s completely understandable at this time of year, especially with exams coming up and nobody wanting to risk injury.

Starting next Wednesday 6th May at 17.45 in Broomfield, we’re setting up a group for players who are sitting their exams to train together in a non-contact environment.

The focus will be:

  1. Getting you out in fresh air for up to 75 minutes
  2. Running-based sessions followed by light gym work
  3. Keeping your fitness and health ticking over during a busy study period
  4. Giving you a break from study while keeping some balance in your week
  5. We see this as a chance for you to reset a bit, switch off from study for a while, and stay connected with your teammates and the club. It’s also a good opportunity to get some fresh air, let off steam, and get the benefits that come from training in a group environment.

Alongside this, I'll also send out a weekly plan of activities you can do on your own time, including recovery, mobility, relaxation, and off-feet conditioning. This will be managed remotely and adjusted as needed until you’re ready to fully re-join your team environment.

In late May, we’ll then begin bringing in our minor players as they start their pre-championship preparation, moving into a 2–3 session per week training structure. The early part of this will focus on building a solid fitness base and building on the work already done in the gym.

If you’re interested in taking part (target group: players outside Minor grade), please register your interest using THIS LINK.
