On Friday last, April 24th, Nathan O’Meara of Munster rugby organised and ran a rugby blitz for the secondary schools in the Nenagh area. The schools in attendance were Nenagh CBS, Borrisokane Community College and Nenagh College with boys teams and also Nenagh College and St Mary’s Nenagh with Girls teams.

The boys played 3 games of 11 a side before moving to another 3 games of full pitch 15 a side matches. Meanwhile the girls teams played Rugby prime on another pitch and then joined together for a tackle workshop, led by Munster rugby women’s development officer Rosemary Dillion, which allowed the girls to learn tackle technique and put it into practice using tackle mats and hit shields. The girls then went back into small sided matches to finish off the day.

Attached are team photos of each school, with the girls group photo being Nenagh college and St. Mary’s mixed. Also below are photos of the tackle workshop with Rosemary and photos of game time.

Thanks to Nathan and Rosemary for their input and time and to all the schools involved.  Also thanks to our senior player Mikey Doran for assisting on the day.
