Match Report: Curraha/St.Vincents v Moynalvey. LGFA League Division 8 Final. 17/05/2026

Curraha/St. Vincent’s welcomed Moynalvey to Ardcath for this Division 8 final on a wet and rainy Sunday evening. The sides had previously met during the league phase, where Moynalvey had just about come out on top in a very tight contest.

The hosts got off to a great start, with Kirsty Greene finding the back of the net with their first attack. Greene was then fouled almost immediately afterwards, with the resulting penalty converted for a point by Katie Tuite.

Moynalvey recovered well from their shaky start and hit the next five points to take the lead by the 12th minute. Katie Tuite responded with a well-taken score to level matters, before an excellent point from Mollie White put the hosts back in front. Moynalvey finished the half strongly, however, scoring four points before the break to open up a three-point lead.

A Ciara Morgan free opened the scoring early in the second half, but Moynalvey then hit a purple patch, registering 2-1 in a three-minute blitz to take control of the game.

Having opened up a nine-point lead, Moynalvey showed plenty of experience and managed the game very well from there. They deployed a sweeper in front of their full-back line, which proved very effective in repelling the Curraha/St. Vincent’s attack, who despite enjoying plenty of possession, struggled to convert it into scores.

Katie Tuite and Ciara Morgan did add further scores for the hosts, but Moynalvey remained dangerous on the counterattack and added a late goal to seal victory.
