Some great news breaking today from St. Caimins Community School in Shannon where Zak Phelan has been named as the school hurler of the year for 2026.
Zak is one of the most dedicated and exciting prospects in the club and when he's not training with his teams in the field he is always seen at games with a hurley and ball pucking around at every opportunity.
He has been part of the Clare development squads since a young age and was an integral part of the Clare Minor team who reached the All Ireland Final in 2025 lining out in defence but popping up regularly with his sweet strike form distance landing monster points. Later that year he was one of the leaders of the Bridge Minors who won the A Club Championship and he has now progressed to the Senior Panel on Garney side.

Congrats to Zak from us all and its a wonderful achievement for the club to see the title return to the Bridge following a year absence with Mark Sheedys success in 2023 and Calum Phelans success in 2024.
As bragging rights go Zak will have none in his household as his brother Calum won the award in 2024 and his Sister Olivia won the Camogie equivalent also in St. Caimins.

Maithú Zak.
