The Sixmilebridge U11 boys delivered a fantastic display of hurling at the Community Games county competition in Kilmaley on Saturday, putting in four strong performances across a demanding schedule.

Their opening game against Kilmaley was a tight contest early on, but Sixmilebridge grew into the match and pulled away as it progressed, showing great composure and teamwork to secure the win.

They then faced Broadford in the quarter-final straight after, in what proved to be a thrilling encounter. It was a titanic battle from start to finish, with Broadford striking over the bar with the last puck of the game to force extra time. With tension at its peak, Evan O’Connor stepped up to score the winner with time almost up, sealing a one-point victory in a game that had everything — skill, physicality, and a hugely vocal crowd.

The semi-final followed immediately against a Lissycasey/Ballynacally side. Just two points down at half-time, Sixmilebridge threw everything at their opponents in the second half, but an inspired goalkeeping performance kept them at bay. Despite their efforts, they eventually went down by seven points.

With great determination, the team regrouped for the 3rd/4th place playoff against Crusheen/Tubber. Showing excellent spirit and some lovely passages of hurling, they finished strongly to run out comfortable winners.

Overall, it was a brilliant day for the squad, who showed great skill, resilience, and teamwork across four games. Every player contributed to a memorable tournament and can be very proud of their efforts.
