Bridge well represented in M Donnelly Puc Fada 2026 in Cooley Mountains

The M. Donnelly All-Ireland Poc Fada competition took part in the Cooley Mountains this weekend - The Bridge were well represented with Mark Sheedy making his debut in the competition and Chloe Morey returning to the Mountains - It was well worth the long trip for Chloe as she finished in second place in the event.

Limericks Colin Ryan wins Mens Puc Fada
Just over two weeks after climbing the steps of the Hogan Stand with Limerick, Colin Ryan climbed Annaverna Mountain and got his hands on more national silverware.

The reigning M. Donnelly All-Ireland Poc Fada champion took the title for the second year running following a formidable display of striking around the challenging 5km circuit on the Cooley Peninsula.

Ryan achieved his two previous wins, in 2021 and 2025, over a shortened course due to bad weather but completed the full course this time in 51 pucks with 54 metres of extras.

That left Ryan one puck ahead of Mayo's Bobby Douglas while Clare's Eamon Foudy, who stepped in for club and county colleague Aidan McCarthy, came home third in the 12-man field.

Ladies Puc Fada Competition

Molly Lynch clearly isn't keen on letting the M. Donnelly All-Ireland Poc Fada title out of her grasp for too long.

The Cork woman, and former county goalkeeper, completed a five-in-a-row of senior camogie successes on Annaverna Mountain in 2025 and returned the cup to organisers upon her return this morning.

But it was only briefly in their possession as at around 4pm, it was handed back to the player after yet another terrific afternoon around the challenging sky-scraping circuit on the Cooley Peninsula.

Even on a relatively calm day, the wind was still a big factor but Lynch made light of the conditions and bestrode the heather and gorse covered course, finishing with 26 pucks and 62.3 metres.

Clare's Chloe Morey came home second with 29 pucks and 58 pucks while Galway's Caoimhe Higgins finished third of the seven that competed.
