This is to give an update on developments on site at our Chubb Renville Gaelic Grounds. Currently we have three major projects ongoing as follows:
a. Phase I – Pitch Development: Our Main Works Contractor, ML & S Bolands, came back on site at the end of May after the winter break. They are working away to finish the Phase I workscope. It was primarily Pitch No. 2 that was left to complete when they finished up works last year and this pitch is now nearly finished. See picture below – the pitch is currently being sanded and will be seeded later this month.
b. In addition, we have added floodlights for Pitch No. 2 to the scope of work for Phase I – the bases have already been installed, with the lights and columns to be installed in the middle of next year. This pitch will be ready for use towards the later end of next year and having a floodlit full sized grass pitch will be a big addition to the club facilities.
c. Dressing Room Building: Work started on our new dressing room building last month and this week the pre-cast walls for the building were being installed by Kilsaran – see pictures below. It is planned to complete the Dressing Room Building by Q1 next year. Where possible we are aiming to use local trades and contractors for the construction and all help in this regard is really appreciated.
d. Renville Walkways: The contract to construct the low level lit walkways all around the grounds was awarded to ML & S Bolands. We had the kick-off meeting for the project this week and work has already commenced. The Walkways will be completed later this year and will be a big addition to the local community.
As highlighted previously, the only funding we will have for the construction of the Dressing Room Building is proceeds from the Win-a-Home draw. Therefore, it would be great if any club members that still have tickets left can get them sold as soon as possible. Draw date is the 31st August. Also, please share link for the tickets with family, friends, etc. - https://www.winahomegalwaycity.com/
Also, congratulations to the Galway Senior Ladies Football Team on a fabulous win at the weekend. Hopefully, our Senior Camogie Team can make it a great double All-Ireland success this weekend. Great to see our club players on both teams – best wishes to them all. Both of these teams used our 4G Astro Pitch for training extensively over the winter, which has to be contributing to the incredibly high standards that both teams are achieving.
Best Regards,
