Ballinteer St John’s Junior B Ladies are through to the championship final on September 2nd after producing a phenomenal, heart-stopping comeback victory against Pobal Parnell.

⛰️ A Mountain to Climb at the Break

It was a blistering and challenging opening half with Pobal Parnell applying heavy pressure in front of goal. BSJ found themselves trailing by 8 points at half-time, down (1-4 to 4-3), leaving the team with a significant deficit to turn around.

Juliet Wall provided a crucial first-half goal, supplemented by points from Clodagh Comiskey, Eleanor Bourke, Siuan Dunnion, and Aoife Magee to keep us within striking distance.

🧤 Defensive Heroics & Bench Impact

Needing a massive response after the break, the BSJ defense stood tall under severe pressure.

The back line showed immense grit and determination, fighting tooth and nail to shut down the opposition attack, superbly marshalled by player of the match Anna McGrath commanding the half-back line.

Goalkeeper Ava Fehilly delivered 2 or 3 brilliant, game-saving stops in the second half to deny Pobal Parnell and maintain our narrow advantage during the frantic closing stretches.

Out in the middle of the park, Aisling Power drove the team forward with her signature surging runs from midfield, turning defense into attack precisely when momentum was needed most.

Momentum swung firmly in our favor as the bench made an immediate impact, highlighted by Sarah Maher netting a crucial brace of goals, alongside substitute Bria Hedden punching home a vital goal after excellent link-up play with Aoife Magee.

⭐ Completing the Comeback

The second-half display showcased incredible character and clinical scoring across the match:

 * Sarah Maher spearheaded the attack bagging two brilliant goals to level and push us ahead.

 * Bria Hedden and Juliet Wall rounded out the goal tallies.

 * Points from Aoife Magee and Heather Bourke added to the first-half contributions from Clodagh Comiskey, Eleanor Bourke, and Siuan Dunnion.

When the final whistle blew, BSJ had battled tenaciously to overturn the deficit and clinch a famous 4-6 to 4-5 victory, booking their well-deserved place in the championship final on September 2nd.
