Senior Men Championship
Our final game of the championship series against Scotstown, at home last weekend, was far from our finest hour of football this season. While we still have injury issues ongoing the game was absent of any bite or intensity from the Seans. Despite only being down by four points at the break, we failed to improve in the second half and were severely punished by the visitors at every chance. The result was evitable from early on in the final period. This defeat has now matched us up with Drumhowan in the quarter final draw. This game takes place on on Saturday at 2pm in Oram. It will take an incredible effort to tackle this fixture and hopefully the lads resilience, will once again, prove the difference and get a result in Oram. Good luck to all and please come and support them on the day.

Hard luck to our senior ladies, who went down by the slimmest of margins to Tyholland on Sunday in round seven of the league. Having held the lead for much of the game, the home side managed to keep the scoreboard ticking over and registered a one point win at fulltime. Certainly the game was there for the taking but it wasn’t to be. There are two rounds remaining in the league and time to secure a playoff place.

Minor Boys Championship
Well what can we say about this absolute rollercoaster of game on Sunday last. Clones were our visitors in the semi final of the Minor Championship. This was a full on, no holds barred encounter, from the off. Every ball was fought for as if it was their last. Tiger like tackling, goalmouth scrambles, sublime scores and more cards than a game of poker, we had it all. Nothing between the sides at the first break, left for a very tense second half. Scores were shared but the Seans pushed in front by one as the clock ran out. Clones would have a reprieve as they took full advantage of a soft free to draw the game. Extra time it would be, and boy did we have twenty minutes of drama. The Seans hit 1-1 to the first three minutes of extra time, but these would be cancelled by the break as Clones tagged on four points. We were now down a player with the first red card being produced before the break. It was all square again and all to play for. Clones would take their scores quicker and we were chasing the game in final final period. However, more cártaí dearg were produced for both teams, and would leave it needlessly tense and edgy for the closing minutes and seconds. At one point down and the clock gone into red and the game all but gone, we were presented with a forty meter free. A chance for glory amidst the madness. Captain, Sean Ward looked to the mentors for guidance. Their response ..... just kick it over, and so he did. The kick seemed to be in slow motion as it it sailed higher and higher until it split the posts in half and registered a very memorable two pointer. Game done and the final whistle was on the kickout and a one point win would be enough. This was a monumental effort from this squad of players against all the odds. Well done to all concerned as it can be chalked up as one for the story books. Corduff will be the opposition in the final with date and venue to be confirmed.

A huge thanks to Francie and Hannah McCabe for allowing us to view this top rated horse and officially launch our fundraiser. Our main sponsor of the event is Monaghan Credit Union and we would like to thank Dermot Coyle and Grainne Clerkin who dropped in to lend their support. This promises to be a huge night of fun and craic. Juvenile players now have sponsor cards and are out and about selling owners, jockeys and trainers. Please support them if they call.
