Whitegate Gaa grounds played host to round 3 of the Clare intermediate camogie club championship clash between Sixmilebridge and Whitegate. Billed as winner takes all clash it was sure not to disappoint.
Whitegate raced into a 1.1 to no score lead within the first 10 minutes. The remaining 20 minutes belonged to Sixmilebridge with the bridge girls scoring 5 unanswered points to reach half time with a slender 1 point lead.
Both sides started the second half where they finished and again it was Whitegate who took the lead and held it until the last ten minutes when a long range free from Chloe Morey on her own 65 made it all square. The remaining minutes was played with both sides leaving everything they had on the field of play. A Chloe Morey free with 4 mins to play put the bridge girls into the lead. Whitegate threw everything they had at the remaining minutes but for some last minute defensive heroics this game could have easily went the way of the host.
At the final whistle both side fell to the ground from pure exhaustion and the huge crowd in attendance rightful applause for both sides for a tremendous game of camogie played right to the final whistle.
Camogie was the true winner on the day!!
