Well done to our U21 hurlers who booked their place in the North U21 'B' Hurling Championship Semi Final after an 11 point victory over Lorrha in last Sunday's Quarter Final in MacDonagh Park in Nenagh.

Having not played a competitive game together since last May there was always going to be an element of rustiness to the game an that proved to be the case in the early exchanges. Lorrha showed great intent early on and found themselves two points to the good after ten minutes with a couple of long range frees and couple of well worked scores from play giving them a deserved lead. But the game was level just sixty seconds later thanks to two fine scores from McCormack brothers James and Ray adding to opening scores from JD Devaney and Kevin Maher leaving the score at 0-04 to 0-04. We finished the half much stronger and three well struck frees from corner forward JD Devaney along with another one from play from Kevin Maher in the opposite corner meant we took a three point lead in at the break with the scoreboard reading 0-08 to 0-05.

We stretched the gap out to five early in the second half with Maher and Devaney doing the damage once more but Lorrha weren't done yet and tagged on the next two scores to get back within three with ten minutes played in this half. This would be as close to a comeback as they would get though as three unanswered Kevin Maher frees followed by an excellent goal from play gave us a nine point lead putting the result beyond all doubt heading into the final ten minutes. Lorrha rallied once more to bring the score deficit back to six but we finished the game in style with two great individual scores from JD Devaney and a Ray McCormack goal deep into injury time to run out 2-15 to 0-10 winners.
