City of Armagh 21 Garryowen 45

Garryowen claimed their first Bateman Cup in seven years with a 45-21 defeat of City of Armagh in Dublin.

The Limerick men ran in for six tries at St Mary's College RFC, overpowering their spirited opponents to take the glory.

Bryan Fitzgerald, Peadar Collins and Jamie Heuston all crossed in the first half to leave Garryowen 24-7 to the good at the break.

Brothers Neil and Liam Cronin then added three tries between them on the turnaround, with Ireland Under-20 out-half Ben Healy kicking 13 points in a classy display. Neil Faloon and Peter Starrett were sent to the bin for Armagh though Andrew Willis and Shea O’Brien managed to dot down and put some gloss on the final scoreline

Ultimately it Garryowen's day, with captain Dean Moore lifting the trophy to spark fervent celebrations.
