Mungret St. Pauls 1-12 Galtee Gaels 2-16
In Kilmallock on Saturday 28 September 2019 our Limerick Motor Centre sponsored Intermediate Footballers played Galtee Gaels in the Semi Final, a step closer to where they got knocked out last year. Miss shots started the game for both sides and Galtee Gaels got a head start before Mungret St. Pauls pulled back into the game in the second half to end the game on a level score with Galtee Gales getting in a last second shot over the bar to draw the game out into extra time. Legs were already tired but they had to play on another 20 minutes only to be left wanting by the final whistle. It was a tough game made tougher by the conditions and weather.

After three wides Galtee Gaels got off the mark and had 3 points up before Mungret St. Pauls replied with 2 points. It took another 7 minutes before there was another point from Galtee Gaels, there was some great defence work done by Mungret St. Pauls which kept Galtee Gaels from scoring. It was on the 20th minute that Mungret St. Pauls leveled the game, it did not take much for Galtee Gaels to lead again. Mungret St. Pauls were awarded a penalty but both the ball and the goalie met each other and the following 45 was sent wide. Mungret St. Pauls were struggling to get the ball over the bar and into the goals as attempts were saved. Galtee Gaels pointed another two balls before the half time as they break on a 3 point lead.

The second half was a better start for Mungret St. Pauls as the ball was sent to the back of the net before the first minute was up which leveled the game again. There were 2 points to each side with Mungret St. Pauls defense coming under attack again with our goalie pulling off a great save. There were only 7 minutes left of full time when Mungret St. Pauls pointed 3 balls unanswered. Galtee Gaels got back on the score board in injury time as they pointed their own 3 balls to level the game and bring it into extra time.

As extra time began so did the rain which made the play very heavy with already tired feet it was Galtee Gaels that got going first notching up 2 points, Mungret St. Pauls leveled it up again with 2 points. The next score saw the game turn as Galtee Gaels netted the ball to see out the end of the first half with a quick turn around Mungret St. Pauls pointed the next ball which saw the end of their scores as Galtee Gaels continued on with another 2 points and a ball just out of reach of our goalie to secure their win. A hard defeat for our players as they had put everything they had into this game and the previous ones and were very unfortunate to bow out at this stage.
