With the club walking track now open three weeks, thoughts automatically turn to the next phase of the GAA’s return to play and what it means in practical terms.
Firstly and most importantly it means all GAA pitches will be open. What we know and love is on its way back.
While safety and patience remain the buzzwords and with good reason, we can finally see our juveniles and adults actually back on club soil.
Weekly changes from the government in Dublin and the NI Executive means this is an ever evolving situation and things may change again next week in terms of the GAA application of the rules. Below is what the GAA set out as part of its initial plan for June 29th and we will update everyone as new changes are implemented.
In our coaching section you will see how training sessions will unfold in practice.
All coaches will be briefed as to the level of contact that is permissible. There will also be changes before and after games.
Access to dressing rooms will be off limits and the players will all shower at home.
Each player will have to have their own water bottle clearly marked as sharing of bottles will not be allowed for sanitary reasons.
All equipment such as cones, speed poles, ladders and footballs will also be cleaned after each session.
All the coaches have been briefed and are acutely aware of the covid protocols. Dromintee GAC would ask all parents to ensure that children continue the good habits of hand washing and exercise the required coughing etiquette to keep everyone safe and healthy.
