On the Feast of the Assumption Young Irelands U13 B team welcomed the Rower-Inistioge to Gowran in the first round of this 13 aside competition. This was a great contest with two very evenly matched teams. Aidan Keating opened the scoring for Young Irelands with a goal and a point and Eoghan Phelan added a second goal for Gowran in the first half. The Rower-Inistioge scored 1-4 in the first half levelling the score at half time.
Gowran pushed ahead in the second half with points from Eoghan, Tomás Carroll, Conor Carroll and Kealan Barcoe. It seemed that Gowran were going to be victors when Harry Byrne scored a goal but the Rower Inistioge had other than ideas. They scored three goals in the last seven minutes given a fair draw game result at full time.
