As announced at the AGM, the club is undertaking a club history project. We are now in Phase 1, which is collecting old newspaper clippings, book references, photos and most importantly people's stories and anecdotes.

One of the first lessons has been that the club may have been founded much earlier than commonly thought. The current date is 1928 but the following 3 articles (published in late 1898) paint a picture of an active club at least 30 years earlier.

Two of the articles are entitled Revival of the Killarney Rugby Football Club potentially signifying that there was an even earlier attempt at setting up a club in Killarney.

The History Project team includes Alex Willms, James  Desmond, Annmarie Williams supported by Ger Sugrue, Ger Moynihan, Liam Murphy and Tom O'Leary. If anyone if interested in becoming involved let us know.

If anyone has any insights on the club's early days or indeed any other aspect of its history please email history@killarneyrugby.com
