Mungret St. Pauls 3-16 Monaleen 0-15
The final score looks like Mungret St. Pauls had a comfortable win over Monaleen but it was only in the final stages of the game that Mungret St. Pauls put their name on the Final slot when they played in the LIT Gaelic Grounds on Wednesday 9 September 2020 in the Semi Final against an equally skilled Monaleen side.
Mungret St. Pauls may have scored the first point but it was Monaleen that took the lead with 3 points in a row while Mungret St. Pauls were missing the target on a few occasions. Mungret St. Pauls managed another 2 points from play but Monaleen had added to their lead with another 3 points by the water break, 0-4 to 0-6. Back from the water break Monaleen pointed a placed ball but 2 consecutive points from winning the Monaleen puck outs helped keep Mungret St. Pauls within range of Monaleen. The next 4 points came all from frees with 2 a piece, Mungret St. Pauls just a point behind by the half time whistle 0-8 to 0-9.

The second half saw Mungret St. Pauls shots becoming more accurate having 9 wides in the first half to Monaleens 3 wides. It was another free for Monaleen that reopened the score in the second half, Mungret St. Pauls reply was a very well taken shot on the Monaleen goalie as the ball was bounced at his feet and popped into the back of the net, this was Mungret St. Pauls first time in the lead after their first point of the game. Mungret St. Pauls seemed to be more dominant from this goal as they tacked on another 3 points. Monaleen were still knocking on the door as they brought themselves to 2 points behind Mungret St. Pauls, another 2 points for Mungret St. Pauls to Monaleens one saw the confidences shining in the Mungret St. Pauls players. Straight back from the water break Monaleen struck another 2 points but Mungret St. Pauls replied with their second goal, this was joined with the last 3 points of the game. The final blow in the game was a loose ball at the Monaleen goal mouth and an eagle eyed Mungret St. Pauls player looking to make a name for himself as he took his opportunity and netted the ball.

This was a great game for our players and it was a pity more supporters could not witness this game from 2 skillful teams. Our match was followed by another fantastic game between Ballybrown and Doon with Ballybrown winning in the final minute to go forward to play Mungret St. Pauls in the final on Wednesday 16 September in the LIT Gaelic Grounds at 7.30pm.
