Mullingar Shamrocks under 13 Whites go under to Multyfarnham ...

Shamrocks’ busy week at underage level continued on Friday evening when the under 13 whites travelled to Multy to face the home team in the Division 3 semi final. A team comprised of 12 year olds with assistance from some of our under 11 squad performed creditably against a fine Multy side. Shamrocks notched the opening point of proceedings but Multy gained a stranglehold soon after with Rhys Brady, Sean Gannon, Ben Thornton and Cian O’ Meara to the fore and an accurate forward line added four unanswered points. The green and whites fought in determined fashion with Luke Kelly, Padraig Regan, Rian Sheeran, Jack Conlon, Harry Tilson, Dylan Byrne and Zac Masterson competing valiantly in an overworked rearguard. Goalkeeper David Fulham made a number of excellent saves including a thunderbolt penalty and at half time Multy had established a lead. Team captain Conor Walsh, Nathan O’ Reilly, Paddy Colleary, Ryan McNamee, Ruairi Kelly, Charlie Murtagh and Darragh Ryan worked tirelessly to get Shamrocks back in contention and the visitors played an excellent brand of football in the second half. Paddy Colleary and Colm Clinton fired over good scores and Manus Kelly, Cian Treanor and Theo Kelly provided fresh legs to give added impetus. Theo Kelly’s clever flick from Paddy Colleary’s pass ensured a first green flag for Shamrocks but the Multy lads responded impressively to deservedly seal a final place.

The Shamrocks’ players on duty were: David Fulham, Rian Sheeran, Jack Conlon, Luke Kelly, Darragh Ryan, Dylan Byrne, Harry Tilson, Paddy Colleary, Colm Clinton, Nathan O’ Reilly, Zac Masterson, Ruairi Kelly, Conor Walsh, Padraig Regan, Manus Kelly, Theo Kelly, Cian Treanor, Charlie Murtagh and Ryan McNamee. Best wishes to two Shamrocks’ warriors, goalkeeper David Fulham and wing forward Colm Clinton who suffered injuries during the game and kept each other company in casualty late on Friday evening.
