U14 West Munster Cup - Conference A Killarney RFC Red 29 Killorglin RFC 7

The Red team opened their account in the West Munster cup with a win over Killorglin. After a period where both teams sized each other up - Red broke the initial deadlock with a try converted by Luke Mccan. A second try followed to leave us 14-0 to the good going into half-time.

Starting the 2nd half at 14-0 up we knew which ever way the next score came it could put a different slant on the match. Once again, we were able to strike the crucial blow to push out to 19-0. Killorglin came back into the game and applied strong pressure to our tryline - some great defensive work kept them at bay but finally the dam broke and we conceded a try that Killorglin converted. Killorglin again came at us and were on our tryline when we managed to strip the ball - the compressed nature of the game meant that when Arthur Gabbett got the ball on the outside he had almost a free run to the Killorglin line. The final score came from Daithí O'Donoghue who finished off a period when we pressurised the Killorglin line by bursting over from short range.

Killian Collins and Arthur Gabbett both came off as a precaution after head knocks but the remaining 13 were able to see out the game.

Thanks again to Killorglin for a sporting game. This was our first run out in the new U14 jerseys - and a win was a nice way to celebrate. Thanks to our sponsors Kennelly's Pharmacies and Opticians and Kerry Cleaning.
