Round Up

Something of a disappointing weekend as only the U14s boys emerged victorious.

U14s boys reached new territory in the inaugural Bank of Ireland Pan Munster tournament for U14 teams, and a new challenge in welcoming East Munster's Cashel RFC. A lightning start had us 19-0 at the half time break. Second half was more competitive as Cashel recovered from sluggish start but super defence kept Cashel scoreless - one highlight was a re-enactment by Liam McCarthy and Mikey Moroney of the famous David Wallace/Paul O'Connell tackle on Sebastian Chabal. The third third was more free scoring as we emptied the bench and gave the U13s a chance to show what they can do. Next game is a return to the West Munster league with a home game vs Abbeyfeale at 12pm on Saturday. Our next game in this competition is an away trip to Kilfeacle on 11th February

U14 girls hosted table toppers Dunmanway/Bantry in Conference 3 of the U14 Girls League. An absolute cracker of a match which was truly relentless with Killarney and the visitors trading scores throughout the match. However it wasn't to be our day as Dunmanway/Bantry ran out winners by 4 points (17-21) in front of a hugely supportive and vocal support for both sides. A truly fantastic display by our girls.

U16s travelled to Highfield. Official score 17-13. No further comment. U16s travel to Clonmel on Sunday looking to break their duck in this competition.

U18.5 hosted Carrigaline-Dolphin in a competitve match in their first game since mid November due to bad weather and concessions. The margin flatters the visitors a little. Killarney opened the scoring with a penalty, before Carrigaline-Dolphin struck back with a converted try followed by a penalty to lead 10-3. Hugh O'Malley then appeared to have scored in the corner but try was chalked off for a foot in touch. Carrigaline-Dolphin scored another try before we hit back with a try to go into the break at 17-8 behind. Carrigaline-Dolphin then got a try immediately after the break to leave Killarney with a huge gap to close - Carrigaline-Dolphin kept the scoreboard ticking over with a penalties from their right winger - an impressive kicker and a fourth try, we replied with our second try. While the third try from Carrigaline -Dolphin meant the result was pretty much in no doubt from early in the 2nd half - it was a hard, competitive game and with three games left the lads are still in with a good chance to progress. Next game is Saturday at 2om vs Kinsale RFC

Seniors suffered a defeat to unbeaten Kanturk team. Next game is Sunday afternoon in the Munster Junior Bowl against Bruff RFC
