Sunday 2nd April DIV5 League Shandonagh Ladies  v Milltownpass

It was the first game of the season for Shandonagh Ladies and with the rare sighting of the sun, it was a beautiful afternoon to play football. Shandonagh Ladies got off to an excellent start with two points. Milltownpass didn't take long to respond with a ball in the back of the net. Shandonagh Ladies didn't let that deter them and a foot block resulted in a penalty for Shandonagh and goal by Laoise Quinn. Milltownpass scored another goal and Shandonagh player Sarah Kincaid receiving a yellow just before halftime put Shandonagh on full alert; however Shandonaghs Ciara Glennon was in form and  Shandonagh went into the break with a  lead; 1-05 to 2-0.

Second Half, Joanne Hickey replaced Shauna Butterly and Sophie Treanor replaced Sarah Kincaid after the 10 minutes were up. Shandonagh started off strong again with Cliodhna O Mahoney winning the throw-in. A superb long range kick from Michelle Lynn went over the goalies head and a goal for Shandonagh. Millttownpass number 11 hit back with a free kick. Little between the two teams still with a score of 2-5 to 2-1.Ciara Glennon added to her tally with Milltownpass no. 11 scoring again from a free kick. Laoise Quinn scored a fantastic goal and Sophia Webb followed up with a skillful point. Milltownpass never gave up and with only minutes to go, Emma Fry and Sandra Mc Wade stopped a goal on the line and made a fantastic clearance. With a near full squad of 28 available, manager Andy Devine had his pick of skillful substitutes which greatly contributed to Shandonaghs form in the final 10-15 minutes.

A super display from all the Shandonagh Ladies with special mention to Sandra Mc Wade who dominated throughout the game. A great start to the season ladies.

Final Score Shandonagh 3-07 Milltownpass 2-06.
